A little history lesson here as well: Originally penned by Francis Scott Key on Sept. 20, 1814, composed by John Stafford Smith in 1750, and adopted by congress on March 3, 1931 as the National Anthem. I Love NASCAR, but have to make fun of it too. PS- Unless you know typical NASCAR fans ( and Blue Collar Comedy Tour ) you may not get alot of this. PSS- For NASCAR fans, the last part IS considered part of the National Anthem ( heresy yes, but.... )

What did you mean on Josh's parody when you said "We've all made offensive comments"? I haven't. Right, i'll take you through it. I was busy reading through the new parodies like I always do, when I seen Josh's 'Fountains Of Wayne' parody. I left some advice on how to make it better and gave it 433 or something. Josh read this and started making stupid remarks like "You know that thing below my back, kiss it", uncalled for, i think you'll agree. I then tried to explain to him what I meant with those remarks, and said that i hadn't actually said his parodies were bad, but he took it one step further and went to no less than 4 of my songs and gave them 111 (Just take a look if you don't believe me), so I lost it. There. That's the full story. Now, explain to me what I did wrong in all this?
By the way, i'm sorry for using this parody to discuss this, it's just i need to get this sorted and i think you're the only one who can help me
I wasn't referring to your comments to HIM, more towards other Amirighters, like PL. PS TO ALL- YOU HAVE TO SING THIS IN A SOUTHERN DRAW, ESPECIALLY THE WORD "CHECKED", would be pronounce " CHECK-ED", as in a bad contraction for " CHECKERED".

uh, hate to interrupt this conversation, but I LOVE NASCAR and I religiously watch every Sunday, and have been since the Daytona race in 2001 when Earnhardt died (my first NASCAR race I ever watched from flag to flag...). I must say, excellent, excellent job on this parody...you captured the NASCAR spirit so perfectly! It's refreshing to see NASCAR parodies, as I have one too that I'll release soon. And, no, I don't watch it for the wrecks or for Jeff Gordon...I watch it to see if Junior will kick some tail!
I started watching in 1991( flag to flag ) or so. I was in Pennsylvania when I heard the 2001 Daytona 500 over the radio, and heard there was a crash. I knew in my gut that he was dead right then, sadly confirmed a few hours later.
Since '91? I wish I've been a fan that long...to see RIchard Petty's last races, Alan Kulwicki winning the champ, Earnhardt add three more big trophies to his collection, Davey Allison almost becoming what could've been Earnhardt's biggest challenge....great stuff and the only thing I can do is read about it. But I've amassed quite a bit of NASCAR knowledge since I became a full-time fan.
Not to be picky but you meant 1850 at the top, right? Unless John Stafford Smith had a time-traveling DeLorean...
Actually, no. JSS had the "insrumental" part in 1750, and the lyrics to this song were as stated. When the two were put together I don't know. PS- May favorite driver is Ricky Rudd, he doesn't do to well these days, though in 91 he finshed 2nd in points behind Dale Earnhardt ( and 4 points ahead of Davey Allison ). He does have two records-Most consecutive seasons with one win ( 16 in a row- tied with Rusty Wallace ) and the Ironman for most consecutive races started ( over 800 now, nobody will beat that for a long time ).

NASCAR: Non Athletic Sport Centered Around Rednecks. Or, to put it another way: Southern Hockey.
And hence the end skit by BCCT. Non-athletic? It's quite energy consuming to drive a car at 180 miles an hour 3 hours straight, on some of those hotter days a driver can lose 10+ lbs of water from sweat alone. I'm sure if Catherine Zeta-Pacholek were to sponsor you to drive, you'd be in the Cialis Car ( Mark Martin already has the Viagra car, but he's retiring so you can take over there ). :)
If NASCAR is not a sport, than neither is damn golf. I was once told...by a REDNECK...that golf was considered a sport because, I quote,"You need athletic ability to handle walking all over the greens and concentrating on hitting the ball. But in NASCAR, all you do is drive in circles." So I guess any idiot can get behind the wheel of a stock car and perform just as well or even BETTER as any other redneck driver receiving an 8-figure amount paycheck just to drive a bulky stock car around in vigorous racing traffic.
Agreed, Misc. NASCAR fan. Lets see, which sport is more dangerous, golf, hockey or autoracing. Never heard of a hockey death, only stupid ( and deserving ) golfers die ( either they are playing in a storm and get hit by lightning or drop dead of old age ). Lets see, in NASCAR alone, how many drivers in the last decade have died in accidents: Adam Petty, Donnie Allison, Dale Earnhardt, Neil Bonnet, etc. PS- A lot of the newer drivers are not from the south, and the sport has expanded all over the country, and is no longer a REDNECK sport.

Since you violated the rule found in Sec. 12-4-A of the NASCAR rulebook (inaccurate information relating to NASCAR) you will now be held in the pits for one lap and have 25 points docked from parody-championship chase. Correct. I think that I meant Clifford Allison died ( in qualifying ), because I remember something that Bobby Allison had lost 2 sons in less than a year. Yes Davey died, but not in a racing accident.
Since I love NASCAR, and don't really like Jeff Gordon, I loved this parody. I want to do one about Jimmie Johnson's crew chief Chad Knaus and his cheating...but I don't know how to go about it or what song to parody....and Kurt Busch deserves a parody too.
