Wondered why it wasn't titled, "My Spanner".... very abrupt change at the end, though we get your point. :)
Could also have been funny if the main theme stayed, i. e., either you gave up and threw the spanner across the span (heh!) of the Thames, or whatever, or else you succeeded, and praised it highly.
555, and a hint: Most US readers probably DK what a "spanner" is. It's pretty strictly en-UK usage, so maybe would have gotten a few more v/c if the "translation" were furnished. Two countries divided by a common language.... (en-US = "wrench", with various modifiers - hex, open-end, adjustable, ratchet, etc.) ... and of course KTOS, per your link.

Thanks TT - abrupt change to emphasize what happens when you get frustrated at not being able to do something that you think you should be able to do. It's customary to swear a lot, throw everything on the floor, kick them as you storm off, and then try to find a way to calm down.

Seriously: I had no clue of the sheer *number* of differences between UK-US until started copy-editing @ WkiP, and worked on an article about a town in England. Had quite an enjoyable chat with the author, who was writing of his home town. WP actually has an article on UK-US language differences, listing the more common ones. Might want to check it out thoroughly and refer to it occasionally when writing your songs.
Yeah, I know it should work the other way also, but the site seems to be at least 90% US, and with Stuart McArthur (Aussie) on indefinite leave of absence, Merry & Pippin returning once after long absence, then giving up, and Kristof Robertson (Aussie transplant living in UK now) showing up only every few months, it's pretty much you, Phil Alexander, and one or two others carrying the Union Jack here.

I use the Concise Oxford to see if UK/US only, but I sometimes forget to check words if they're not slang (like spanner)
