The Lyrics
MacDonough's 1903 recording is the only surviving contemporary version of this 1902 Broadway song that was picked up by the Royal Rooters, a baseball fan club in Boston. Unlike the Dropkick Murphys' "punk" version, the words can be understood -- and do not reflect an incident that happened at the 1912 World Series, a decade after the song debuted on Broadway. In New York City. Though I don't think Broadway-show producer-turned-Red Sox owner Harry Frazee had anything to do with it.

In the original song, Tessie was a parrot. Makes sense, because Red Sox fans don't have enough sense to come up with their own original thoughts. Even after all the material they've been presented with, the first thing out of their mouths is usually... dribbled beer. But the second thing out of their mouths is usually "Yankees Suck!"
