The Lyrics
I think more people know the chorus to this song than know the verses. So, I decided to write parody lyrics for only one of the verses and to write two sets of parody lyrics for the chorus. Hope you enjoy it!
VERSE
There’s so much that we buy and I’m wondering why
That we don’t have the brains to say no
But the powers that be, will most surely decree
That there’s never big business to fail
If we stop spending bucks, like a bunch of dumb clucks
Then the future may end up dimly
So we buy all the while and wear a false smile
By creating false imagery
CHORUS #1
When advertisers are lying
They promise us the goods cheaply
And gloss over all the bad news
That they’re hoping we won’t see
So we take their special offer
And get free delivery
But unless we read the fine print
We will have much misery

When advertisers are lying
Many people lend an ear
And sponsors pay big dollars
For the words they want us to hear
Lose weight, improve our love life
We can be all we can be
But when advertisers sell us
Sure we’ll pay a big fat fee
