Few people today would consider suicide to reunite with a lost loved one. And, if I recall my Christian doctrine, taking one's own life is a major sin. Often when a person is depressed, the sight of other peoples' happiness can amplify the feelings of despondency. You have also captured the idea that others' happiness is an illusion, the lack of awareness on their part of the tenuousness of existence or the evil around them. This is a thought-provoking song. You have met the challenge and succeeded. I'm not sure if it fits your style and sensibilities, but there is a song I have heard about a crippled soldier. It's called "And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda". One of the greatest anti-war songs of all time. I commend it to your viewing. There are a couple of good examples on youtube. Maybe you can do something with it. War is always with us.
