The Lyrics
The original "Gloomy Sunday" (Szomoru Vasarnap) was a 1930's Hungarian song about a lover who contemplates suicide to rejoin a departed companion. Millions of Americans are facing the loss of their love, Sunday football. Some are contemplating drastic measures, too. This parody is based on the extended American version.
Sunday is gloomy, there is no more NFL
News shows and talk shows turn my life a living hell
Players and owners refusing to compromise
Millions of fans with that glazed dead look in their eyes
Soon infomercials begin to devour me
Grab my ceramic knife, open an artery
No Game Sunday
Season is canceled, the world has come to an end
Why can't you spoiled millionaires find some way to bend
Now I am stranded, can't think of a thing to do
Talk with my family or take my kids to the zoo
