I went to the store to do some shopping
A 'puter is what I went for.
All looked so interesting in a row
'Til I stepped up to one in the store.
There on their spec sheets there were some numbers
Confusing to me, yes they were.
I really didn't know all that I needed
So I did the worst thing, ask for help.
He asked me how fast I want it to go
(Isn't faster the best? So I thought.)
And how much memory that it should stow.
(Don't want the poor 'puter senile.)
Then we got into confusing numbers.
GHz, MB, GB, all
It burns CD's too, the little poor things
It must hurt so much, they're so small.
I could read some numbers on my spec sheet,
But really don't know which ones count.
The main thing for me is buy a 'puter
Get it home, put it up, get online.

Nice one Pat. You've seen these bumper stickers that say, If you can read this, thank your teacher. Maybe we should have one that says, If you can read these computer specs thank your IM provider. This parody is so true of so many. I give you 5's for pace, originality and reminding some of us computer professionals just who our customers are and what they are about.

These new fangle computers are somethin' aren't they? I learned something from your song . . . I thought that little drawer was a fancy cup holder; I stopped using mine though, my coffee kept foggin' up the screen -- for burnin' CD's huh? Still, why would anyone want to burn cake doughnuts?? Oh well, now if I can just get the hang of this dern little foot-petal . . . ;-)

Yeah, I think mine is senile. If I'm not mistaken, this was a pretty early effort. Not bad, but you've really gotten better (no offense).
IM? I've never heard them called that - they're always called ISPs (internet service providers) around here. IM, on the other hand, is common shorthand for instant message (usually used as a verb, as in "IM me the data"). Anyway, not bad, but not all that funny either. 5/4/4
