Nicely spicy parody, Royce. Your verse about Martha can be read in a totally different kind of way, too .... historically, inside prisons, inmates have from time to time consumed nutmeg to get a marijuana-like high. Nutmeg contains myristicin, a chemical similar to mescaline, the hallucinogen found in the peyote cactus. I've never gotten high on nutmeg, but a friend of mine and her sister once did - all she says she remembers of the experience is giggling and laughing a lot, and not much else. Dangerous pursuit, though - too much nutmeg can supposedly be fatal in some individuals.
Thanks Johnny; this was based on a news story about Martha "stealing" spices inside the prison--I can't wait til her book comes out.
