I don't see any connection between this set of lyrics and "Ode To Billy Joe". As I recall OTBJ was a rather lengthy song. I can't even match the first line to the melody. Are you sure you didn't have some other OS in mind?
I found it easy to match your lyrics with the pacing of the OS. By the way, the public did not elect Trump - the electoral college did. Clinton got at least 3M more votes.
